A new festival celebrating Cunnamulla’s connection to water and culture will restart the arts sector in Paroo, thanks to a $225,000 Federal Government grant, Maranoa MP David Littleproud announced.
“I’m pleased to see $225,000 awarded through Batch 5 of the Restart Investment to Sustain and Expand (RISE) Fund will benefit the Cunnamulla community,” Mr Littleproud said.
“This funding will provide critical support for the Paroo Shire Council to deliver the Outback River Lights Festival, a new illuminated arts festival for Paroo, articulating Cunnamulla’s connection to water, cultural heritage and the essence of the Outback.
“The Outback River Lights Festival will provide a major boost to community spirit and assist the local economy to restart from the pandemic.”
The Coalition Government’s $200 million RISE Fund plays an important part in rebuilding our local arts and entertainment sectors, and will assist in the long-term sustainability of cultural and creative organisations throughout Maranoa.
To date, the Government has already allocated $160 million of the $200 million RISE Fund, creating more than 167,000 job opportunities and expanding cultural and creative experiences for audiences across Australia.
