Maranoa MP: Two new NDIS grants up for grabs

Finding meaningful employment, getting involved with local community groups and improving health service accessibility are top goals of two new NDIS grants that are now open, Maranoa MP David Littleproud said.

“The Federal Government has put $62 million up for grabs between these two grants and I encourage all Maranoa organisations that are providing disability support – or laying the foundations – to apply for a share in this funding,” Mr Littleproud said.

“The good news is that through the Mainstream Capacity Building grant and the Economic and Community Participation grant, understanding and knowledge of disability in the health sector and amongst employers will be boosted.

“The Mainstream Capacity Building Program will see $32 million available in this round to improve accessibility to disability services and improve understanding of disability in the health sector.

“The Economic and Community Participation grant has $30 million available in this round, which aims to provide opportunities for meaningful employment and participation in community life.

“That helps shape our communities for tomorrow – and it’s important to get disability support services working as smoothly as possible because Maranoa communities are tight-knit and we all want to provide an opportunity for inclusion and enhanced support to people with disabilities across our rural communities.

“The grants will also provide greater opportunity for people with disability to lead, shape and contribute to their own communities.

“People with disability should be able to access health services that are inclusive of their needs and enjoy the same job opportunities and community involvement as everyone else.”  Applications close 10PM on Monday, 21 October.
