Mobile polling to roll out across Maranoa’s most remote communities

In the lead-up to the upcoming federal election, locals in some of the Maranoa electorate’s most remote communities will have the option to vote from their hometowns as the Australian Electoral Commission prepares to roll out its mobile polling facilities.

From April 22 until May 1, locals in 26 communities across Maranoa can cast their vote via the mobile polling facility, which will be visiting communities across the country to provide an in-person voting service to people who experience barriers to electoral participation.

Leader of The Nationals and Member for Maranoa David Littleproud said mobile polling would be a major benefit to many communities that are continuing the clean-up from recent flooding events.

“Locals across South West, Western, and Outback Queensland are still in the early stages of recovering from the recent floods, so mobile polling will offer a vital resource to those who may otherwise struggle to get to a polling booth,” Mr Littleproud said.

“Whether it’s via mobile polling, a postal vote, an early voting centre or on the day, I encourage everyone to do their civic duty and cast their vote in the upcoming federal election.”

Along with mobile polling, the AEC has now confirmed early voting centres will also be in operation in Roma, St George, Chinchilla, Dalby, Charleville, Goondiwindi, Kingaroy, Nanango, Warwick, Stanthorpe, and Longreach from April 22.
