Bushfire Support

1. Producers, small businesses and not for profits affected by bushfires on Southern Downs

Disaster assistance has been extended to primary producers, small businesses and not for profits impacted by the Southern Queensland bushfires.

DRFA assistance measures are now available in Southern Downs Regional Council.

We want to help impacted primary producers and businesses recover quickly, so we’ve activated Category B assistance which includes concessional loans of up to $250,000 and essential working capital loans of up to $100,000 and freight subsidies of up to $5,000 for the movement of stock, feed, machinery, fuel, water and building/fencing materials.

Assistance is being provided through the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).

For more information on loans for primary producers, small businesses and not for profits in the Scenic Rim and Southern Downs phone Queensland Rural and Industry Development Authority on 1800 623 946.

For information on the freight subsidies visit daf.qld.gov.au or phone the DAF Customer Service Centre on 13 25 23.

For information and support phone the Community Recovery Hotline on 1800 173 349.

2. People affected by bushfires on Southern Downs

The Australian Government will deliver new income assistance to people affected by the bushfires in Queensland and New South Wales.

We have activated the Disaster Recovery Allowance (DRA) to ensure assistance is directed to those who need it most.

In Queensland, the DRA has been activated in the local government areas of Noosa, Scenic Rim, Southern Downs and Sunshine Coast.

Claims for DRA can be made through the Australian Government Department of Human Services (DHS) from Monday 16 September 2019.

Customers can call DHS on 180 22 66, visit www.humanservices.gov.au or visit a DHS Service Centre.
