Jackson Community to Benefit from FRRR Funding

The Jackson community is set to benefit from a grant from the Foundation for Rural Regional Renewal (FRRR).

The Jackson branch of the QCWA has been granted $9,900 for its “Back Yard Blitz” project, which includes landscaping works to improve the safety and amenities of the local CWA hall. Funding for the project was made possible through the FRRR’s Strengthening Rural Communities – Small & Vital grants program, which is funded by the federal government.

Leader of The Nationals and Member for Maranoa, David Littleproud, said the Jackson QCWA was among five community groups from across the Maranoa electorate to benefit from the latest round of FRRR funding.

“The FRRR provides vital grants for regional communities, and it gives me great pride to see Maranoa get its fair share of the latest funds,” Mr. Littleproud said. “I’m confident each of these projects will have a profoundly positive impact on each of the successful communities, and I congratulate everyone involved for being selected for this latest round of grants.”

Also benefiting from the FRRR’s Strengthening Rural Communities – Small & Vital grants program is the Millmerran Academy of Performing Arts, which has received $10,000 to run its “What’s the MAPA” series of creative arts workshops. The program will also provide a $6,000 grant to the Isisford Primary P&C Association for its “Dancing Lessons in the Dirt and Dust,” which aims to foster community connection by providing after-school dance lessons for kids, culminating in a public performance.

Meanwhile, the FRRR’s federally-funded Strengthening Rural Communities grants program has provided Stanthorpe’s Artworks Granite Belt Inc $8,437 to upgrade the commercial kitchen of its volunteer-run community café and Noorama Sports and Recreation Inc $10,000 to upgrade the kitchen facilities at its community hub.
