Sports organisations across Maranoa can now apply for the second round of Sport Australia’s Participation Grant program.
Grants of up to $450,000 are available to eligible national sport and physical activity organisations which are helping keep local communities in tip top shape.
Federal Member for Maranoa David Littleproud said the program will remove barriers and help tens of thousands of Australians get into sport. “We know Australians love their sport,” Mr Littleproud said.
“This round of funding will invest in organisations that are committed to delivering new programs to help us get active and stay active. “Increasing participation and promoting the benefits of sport are the important targets of this program.
“No matter what code or activity, getting up and about has both positive physical and mental benefits while also having the potential to bring communities together.”
Projects previously funded include:
– Gymnastics Australia’s KinderGym project that reached over 23,000 children aged five years and over through state and territory associations and clubs.
– Touch Football Australia’s All Abilities program which provided more than 1,300 people with a disability the opportunity to participate in the sport. Applications are open now until Friday 8 October and successful recipients will be notified in November.
