Barcaldine Showgrounds sure to impress at Westech Field Days, Maranoa MP says

Barcaldine Showgrounds are gearing up for a bigger and better Westech Field Days in 2020, with $5310 secured through the Stronger Communities Programme, Maranoa MP David Littleproud said today.

“The Westech Field Days bring in more than 6000 visitors and 200 exhibitors to Barcaldine and making improvements to the showground leaves a lasting impression on visitors and locals alike,” Mr Littleproud said.

“Removable bollards and an automatic watering system will be installed at the Barcaldine Showgrounds and a commercial refrigerator will also be purchased for members and volunteers to use.

“I’m a firm believer in bringing people together and improving community services across Maranoa because it has a positive flow-on effect on our quality of life and how we support each other – making improvements to the Barcaldine Showgrounds reflects this.

“Our bush communities are the heart of this country and I want to make sure that small capital projects are funded and the community gets exactly what it needs.”

Round 5 of the Stronger Communities Programme has seen $150,000 in Federal Government funding made available to Maranoa community groups.

Project grants range from $2500 to $20,000 to help bolster rural communities.
