Federal Government support to increase capacity at Dalby’s Ningana

Aged care in Dalby will receive a boost thanks to the Federal Government’s investment to increase capacity at Ningana, Maranoa MP David Littleproud announced today.

Secured through the Federal Government’s 2020 Aged Care Approvals Round (ACAR) – the allocation of 8 aged care places at Ningana secures better aged care experience in the Western Downs.

“This is such a great announcement for our region where the additional eight aged care places will significantly boost Ningana’s capacity to deliver quality care to local seniors and those from surrounding areas,” Mr Littleproud said.

“This helps our seniors and their loved ones from going through the anguish of searching far and wide for a place to receive care.

“It’s a tragedy when our seniors are forced to move away from their rural community and everything they’ve ever known to a larger town or city to receive care as their needs change.

“Funding for this project goes a long way to making sure our seniors can age in place in Dalby, close to the support of their family and friends, and with the facilities to support their needs.

“It offers peace-of-mind and security not only for local residents already in care but also those who are carefully considering the next phase of their life.”

“The Coalition Federal Government’s funding package for aged care residences goes some way to addressing that challenge and creating a chance for seniors to stay, hopefully, much closer to the base of loved ones and family.”

Across Maranoa, more than $15 million in infrastructure grants and eight residential aged care places were secured by aged care facilities in Goondiwindi, Chinchilla, Jandowae, Dalby and Warwick through this round of ACAR funding.

A total of $150 million in capital grants and over 4000 residential care places and 1000 short-term restorative care places worth a combined $380 million a year have been allocated following the conclusion of the competitive 2020 Aged Care Approvals Round (ACAR).
