Goondiwindi region boosted by Saluting Their Service Grant

The Goondiwindi region’s proud tradition of honouring those who have served has been boosted by a grant from the latest round of the federal government’s Saluting Their Service Grants program.

Goondiwindi Regional Council will receive $71,819 to go towards the restoration and refurbishment of the Goondiwindi Customs House, which aims to help showcase the district’s rich history.

Leader of The Nationals and Federal Member for Maranoa David Littleproud said the funds were vital in not only celebrating the electorate’s past but also helping to educate our future generations.

“The Saluting Their Service Grants program helps communities across our great country recognise those who have served in unique ways that are special to each community,” Mr Littleproud said.

“Grants such as these play a vital role in preserving our electorate’s history and those heroes that made the ultimate sacrifice, while also helping to educate our younger generations. It gives me great pride to have helped secure the funding for this important initiative and I’m confident this project will have a profound impact on the Goondiwindi community.”

More than $74,000 worth of funds have come into the Maranoa electorate from the latest round of the program with the Wooroolin Community Committee also receiving $2462 for a new honour board at the Wooroolin Memorial Hall to commemorate locals who served in Vietnam.

The STS program is ongoing and is always open for applications with assessment of applications split into three batches across the year. For more information or to apply visit: Saluting
