Communities across the Maranoa electorate will benefit from $45.62 million via the federal
government’s Growing Regions Fund with more than $43 million slated for Outback communities.
Leader of The Nationals and Member for Maranoa David Littleproud said $14.96 million will go towards the Blackall Cultural Centre, $14.8 million to Eromanga Natural History Museum, and a further $9.5 million for the revitalisation of Roma’s Denise Spencer Memorial Swimming Pool.
“These funds will help bring some of the Maranoa’s most exciting projects to life,” Mr Littleproud said.
“Maranoa has a proud reputation for being a tourism juggernaut and I am confident these funds will
help us solidify that reputation, while simultaneously providing an enormous benefit to the residents
of these communities.
“I applaud the federal government for working with me in ensuring these vital funds are delivered to
the Maranoa.”
Also benefitting from this round of the Growing Regions Program are South Burnett CTC $1.98 million, Barcoo Shire Council $2.13 million, and Longreach Regional Council $2.25 million.
“South Burnett CTC does extraordinary work in supporting our young people through housing and
social programs and these funds will go towards stage one of its Kingaroy Youth Park Development,
which will include a fit-for-purpose youth and family services centre,” Mr Littleproud said.
“Barcoo Shire Council will use its funds for a variety of projects across the Jundah, Windorah, and
Stonehenge communities including upgrades to community hubs and essential community
infrastructure.
“Longreach Regional Council will put its funds towards the Longreach Recreational Precinct that will
include a new fenced dog park, a pump track, a half basketball court, a botanical walkway, and shaded playgrounds with all-abilities elements.
“It gives me great pleasure to have helped secure these funds and I look forward to seeing the positive impacts they will have on our Maranoa electorate.”
