Labor ignores agriculture, again

The Leader of the Opposition, Anthony Albanese failed to recognise the $80 billion contribution the agriculture industry in his Budget-in-Reply speech tonight.

The Minister for Agriculture and Northern Australia, David Littleproud said by not even saying the word once, it shows Labor does not care about Australia’s farmers.

“The Labor Party does not have a plan to support let alone grow the agricultural industry,” Minister Littleproud said.

“Brought back to basics, Labor does not have a plan to produce the food and fibre that ends up on your plate and on your back.

“For the first year, the agriculture sector value exceeded $80 billion and has been the powerhouse of the economy during COVID.

“Our farmers have endured drought, bushfires, floods and the pandemic to keep us fed, clothed and prosperous.

The Coalition Government provided the support our farmers needed to battle the headwinds and to keep producing for Australia and the world.

“Mr Albanese clearly has no idea about our farmers achievements nor does he give a thought about those in supporting industries.

“In fact, by not mentioning agriculture at all in the eyes of the Labor Party our farmers don’t even exist.

“The Labor Party has a city centric mentality where food magically appears on your plate.”
