Maranoa MP urges applications for $3000 payments

Maranoa MP David Littleproud today announced a top-up of $82.5 million into Round Two of the Drought Community Support Initiative (DCSI) and is encouraging farmers and farm workers, suppliers and contractors to apply if they didn’t already do so.

“If you haven’t already applied for this $3000 payment under Round Two of DCSI, then now is the time to look into it,” Mr Littleproud said.

“This payment can be used by people across farming communities in Maranoa for groceries, vehicle maintenance, energy & utility bills, health & medical expenses.

“Parts of Maranoa are coming into their eighth year of drought – getting on top of life expenses is tough and that’s what this payment is designed for

“Summer rain has fallen in many parts of Maranoa but many missed out – drought doesn’t stop with a couple of good storms.

“We’re doing what it takes to support farming households through these extremely difficult financial and stressful times.

“That’s why the Federal Government is continuing to support drought-affected communities with more than $8 billion in support.”

Today’s announcement takes the Government’s commitment of providing the DCSI to drought-affected farming households to over $180 million since 2018.
