‘One Stop Shop’ for drought support coming to Maranoa

June 23, 2021

Maranoa MP David Littleproud is encouraging rural residents affected by drought to find out what support is available to them at a series of Drought Community Outreach Events coming soon to Maranoa.

Organised and funded by the Federal Government’s National Drought and North Queensland Flood Response and Recovery Agency, and in partnership with Rotary Australia, the Drought Community Outreach Program will visit Maranoa communities this month to provide support and advice on the drought, flood and challenges like COVID-19.

Mr Littleproud said the events at Surat, Meandarra, Millmerran and Allora will deliver a ‘one stop shop’ for drought support services and information.

“These events will bring together all levels of government, charities, not-for-profit and agricultural organisations to support farmers and rural communities living through the immediate and longer-term effects of drought,” Mr Littleproud said.

“It’s a great opportunity for farmers, families and community members to catch up with friends and neighbours and find out what support is available during drought and tough times.

“Attendees will be able to get information and advice on Farm Household Allowance, On-Farm Emergency Water Infrastructure Rebate Scheme and Rotary will also be distributing $500 vouchers to drought-affected households and conducting community well-being activities.

“The aim is to ensure our communities are given the right information, advice and options to prepare and recover from drought now and into the future.”

The events will have representatives from Australian Government agencies such as the Australian Taxation Office, Regional Investment Corporation (RIC), Services Australia and NBN Co. State government agencies and non-government organisations with drought support information will also be at each event.
