Roads to Recovery funding flowing into Western Downs roads

Seven roads across the Western Downs Shire are set to deliver smoother journeys with over $2.4 million awarded through the Federal Government’s Roads to Recovery program, Maranoa MP David Littleproud said.

“The Coalition Federal Government continues to invest funding into road maintenance in  the Western Downs Shire because we understand that in terms of road infrastructure, local governments can’t do it all by themselves,” Mr Littleproud said.

“Works include kerbing, channelling, pavement reshaping and some re-sealing – a guarantee that roads are smooth and safe.

“Apart from increased safety, drivers are going to be travelling on smoother, more reliable roads and that’s all part of building up efficiency across the region.

“The Roads to Recovery Program is a local and federal partnership that improves road networks and delivers real and tangible benefits to local communities.”

The Australian Government is delivering over $27 million to 117 local government authorities nationwide for safer and better-maintained roads.

From 2013–14 to 2023–24, the Government will provide $6.1 billion under the Roads to Recovery Program.

Road works through to April 2020 include:

  • Boonarga Inverai Rd, Boonarga: Pavement reshaping;
  • Haystack Road, Brigalow: Pavement reshaping and re-sealing;
  • Bullock Head Road, The Gums: Pavement reshaping and re-sealing;
  • Knox St, Dalby: Kerbing and channelling;
  • Moreton St, Dalby: Kerbing and channeling;
