Windorah QFES complex to be fitted out, better prepared

Fitting out the Barcoo Shire Council’s Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) complex means the region will be better prepared to deal with natural disasters thanks to $5000 in Stronger Communities Program funding, Maranoa MP David Littleproud announced today.

“Windorah’s QFES complex will be fully fitted out with new pavements, shade structures, outdoor flood lighting, tables and chairs so that emergency crews are in a better position to deal with natural disasters,” Mr Littleproud said.

“This fitout ensures the QFES are ready to fight fires and that gives the wider community around Windorah more peace of mind.

“I’m a firm believer in bringing people together and improving community services across Maranoa because it has a positive flow-on effect on our quality of life and how we support each other – making improvements to the Dalby Community Hall reflects this.

“Our bush communities are the heart of this country and I want to make sure that small capital projects are funded and the community gets exactly what it needs.”

Round 5 of the Stronger Communities Programme has seen $150,000 in Federal Government funding made available to Maranoa community groups.

Project grants range from $2500 to $20,000 to help bolster rural communities.
