$17,939 for Paroo Progress Association to support veterans and community

New kitchen facilities, furniture and equipment to host events will soon be part and parcel of Cunnamulla’s Paroo Progress Association, which received $17,939 through round four of the Veteran and Community Grants program, Maranoa MP David Littleproud announced today.

“The Paroo Progress Association is a worthy recipient of this Federal Government funding program because it strengthens the organisation’s position to support veterans, their families and the wider community,” Mr Littleproud said.

“Local community groups like the Paroo Progress Association play an important role in understanding the challenges in their community and they will utilise these funds to the best of their ability to make sure veterans and locals have opportunities to get together through thick and thin.

“The great thing about the Veteran and Community Grants program is that social isolation is reduced while encouraging veterans and their families to remain independent, healthy and active within their communities.

“I have full confidence that the Paroo Progress Association will bolster their presence in the community and deliver better mental health and wellbeing for veterans, their families and locals in the area.”

More than $875,000 of funding will be delivered to 68 projects across Australia under the Veteran and Community Grants (V&CG) and Men’s Health Peer Education (MHPE) programs.
