Goondiwindi’s Kaloma Home for the Aged to receive $145,000 capital grant to upgrade energy practices

Aged care in Goondiwindi will receive a $145,000 boost thanks to the Federal Government’s investment to upgrade energy practices at Kaloma Home for the Aged, Maranoa MP David Littleproud announced today.

“This is such a great announcement for our region where Kaloma will be transformed by this $145,000 capital grant to replace an ageing generator and install solar panels, to save on energy costs” Mr Littleproud said.

The funding – secured through the Federal Government’s 2020 Aged Care Approvals Round (ACAR) – secures better aged care experience in Goondiwindi.

Kaloma will use this funding to help keep energy and operating costs low, so they can invest where it really matters – in the local facilities. This helps our seniors, and their loved ones, from going through the anguish of searching far and wide for a place to receive care,” he said.

“It’s a tragedy when our seniors are forced to move away from their rural community and everything they’ve ever known to a larger town or city to receive care as their needs change.

“Funding for this project goes a long way to making sure our seniors feel comfortable – satisfied with the residence and close to their family and friends.

“The Coalition Federal Government’s funding package for aged care residences goes some way to addressing that challenge and creating a chance for seniors to stay, hopefully, much closer to the base of loved ones and family.”

More than $15 million was secured by five aged care facilities – in Goondiwindi, Chinchilla, Jandowae, Dalby and Warwick – across the Maranoa electorate through this round of ACAR funding.
