Funding flows to reignite community-run arts in Bell

The Coalition Government continues to deliver record support to the creative and cultural sector, with 47 new projects across regional and remote Australia sharing in more than $136,000 under the third batch of grants from the $3 million Culture, Heritage and Arts Regional Tourism (CHART) program.

Federal Member for Maranoa David Littleproud said $3,000 in CHART funding from the latest round would help the Bell Bunya Community Centre Association to purchase ‘capture, storage, and printing’ technologies to record and present local oral histories of elderly residents.

“The current history and community art project being delivered by Mike Epworth and Bronwyn Harm, will be strengthened through recording and showcasing valuable local oral histories,” Mr Littleproud said.

“Presenting appealing cultural tourism experiences in regional communities like Bell, is more important than ever following two years of disruption, which is why the Australian Government continues to lend a helping hand in the recovery of community-run arts and cultural organisations.

“I encourage arts, cultural and heritage organisations in Maranoa to apply for a CHART program grant, which will support rebuilding local economies and preserve Australia’s cultural heritage in regional areas.”

The CHART program has delivered more than $500,000 for 178 projects across the country, supporting the reactivation and ongoing sustainability of creative and cultural organisations that play an integral role in telling the stories of their local communities and preserving Australia’s cultural heritage.

The program is administered by the Australian Museums and Galleries Association (AMaGA) on behalf of the Government. Applications are open until 29 April 2022, or until funding is allocated, whichever comes first. More details at www.amaga.org.au/chart.
