Maranoa residents urged to have their say on renewable energy projects

Leader of The Nationals and Federal Member for Maranoa David Littleproud is calling on locals to have their say on renewable energy infrastructure and developments via a federal government review.

Announced earlier this year, the Community Engagement Review will be led by the Australian Energy Infrastructure Commissioner Andrew Dyer in a bid to improve community engagement during the planning and deployment of renewable energy projects and upgrades.

The review comes after primary producers gathered for recent rallies in both Brisbane and Melbourne to voice their concerns about the impact renewable energy projects are having on the agricultural sector.

“The Nationals have been pushing for a Senate Enquiry into renewable energy projects and while this review is a step in the right direction, The Nationals will continue to call for a thorough look at renewable energy projects,” Mr Littleproud said.

“Producers from across the Maranoa electorate have expressed concerns regarding a variety of renewable energy projects, so this review is an ideal opportunity for them to formally voice those concerns.”

The public consultation period is open until October 1 at 5pm and submissions can be made by visiting: consult.dcceew.gov.au/aeic-review-of-community-engagement-practices

Following the conclusion of the review, a report will be commissioned for the federal government by the end of the year.

“I encourage anyone concerned about renewable energy projects to have their say,” Mr Littleproud said.Authorised by David Littleproud, Warwick, Queensland

“This review is the perfect opportunity for our electorate to shape the federal government’s future polices and it is important we have our say.”
