Mia Davies press release

The Nationals leader David Littleproud has thanked outgoing Western Australia leader of the Opposition and leader of The Nationals WA, Mia Davies.
Mr Littleproud said Ms Davies had left a strong legacy and was a role model to others.
“Ms Davies has made an enormous contribution to Western Australia and to The Nationals,” Mr Littleproud said.
“Ms Davies broke glass ceilings and rose through the political ranks due to her hard work ethic, strong morals and tenacious attitude.”
Ms Davies became the first member of The Nationals WA to hold the role of Opposition leader in Western Australia since Arthur Watts in 1947.
Mr Littleproud added he enjoyed a close working relationship with Ms Davies for many years and considered her a good friend.
“I have a huge amount of respect for Ms Davies – she was a strong leader and never wavered from her beliefs.”
Ms Davies became a member of the state Legislative Assembly for Central Wheatbelt in 2013 and quickly went on to become Minister for Water and Forestry, Sport and Recreation – the youngest government Minister for The Nationals WA – and Assistant Minister for State Development.
Ms Davies also served in the Legislative Council from 2009 to 2013 and was the youngest member at the time.
“The Nationals thank Ms Davies for her hard work in leadership.
“Ms Davies has always been an advocate for regional WA and passionate about improving WA and Australia.”
