Blackall Show to Gear Up for 2021 Show Bash with $80,000 Investment

The Blackall Showgrounds will have a fresh face when its facilities are renewed and reinvigorated with an $80,670 investment through the Federal Government’s Regional Agricultural Show Development Grants program, Maranoa MP David Littleproud announced today.

“The Blackall Show brings the community together and is a major drawcard so that makes it all the more disappointing that this year’s was cancelled because of COVID-19,” Mr Littleproud said.

“This grant will help with extensions to the poultry pavilion, electrical works, a new yard and loading facilities at the cattle pavilion, new tents and scales for weighing wool.

“These upgrades paint a clear picture – the Blackall Show is here to impress locals and visitors and they’ve got plenty of exciting times ahead thanks to these works.

“Shows are the heart and soul of our regional communities and when their next event rolls around, these upgrades will make the event even more attractive to show goers.

“I’m a firm believer in bringing people together and improving community services across Maranoa because it has a positive flow-on effect on our quality of life and how we support each other – making improvements for the Blackall Show reflects this.

“Upgrading show facilities means more visitors to these regional events, more local employment, and more tills ringing in local businesses.

“I want to see our shows continue to grow in size and popularity and bridge the rural/urban divide.”

A total of 122 regional shows received a portion of funding through the $20 million Regional Agricultural Show Development grants program. Show societies in Maranoa received more than $3.4 million.
