Boosting creativity and community spirit in Thallon

June 25, 2021

Providing a creative space for the community to come together is the main aim for the Thallon Progress Association, which received $11,000 to establish the Thallon Community Art and Workshop Hub, Maranoa MP David Littleproud said today.

“This project will benefit all members of the community, no matter their age or ability, and provide a vibrant and creative space for the community to come together,” Mr Littleproud said.

“The funding will support the renovation of an existing shed to become the Thallon Community Art and Workshop Hub, which will provide a range of art and cultural activities to the small rural community.

“The Hub will become the place where the community can come together regularly, to plan projects and to participate in creating additional pieces for the whole of the community.

“After more than 7 years of drought, this facility will provide a huge boost to community connectedness and well-being.”

“I’m a firm believer in bringing people together and improving community services across Maranoa because it has a positive flow-on effect on our quality of life and how we support each other – creating the Thallon Community Art and Workshop Hub reflects this.

“Regional communities are the heart of this country and I want to make sure that small capital projects are funded and the community gets exactly what it needs.”

Round 6 of the Stronger Communities Programme has seen $150,000 in Federal Government funding made available to Maranoa community groups. 14 projects were funded in this round.

Project grants range from $2500 to $20,000 to help bolster rural communities.
