Bright lights are going to turn heads and bring locals and visitors together in Longreach with $20,000– secured through the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal under its Tackling Tough Times Together (TTTT) initiative – Maranoa MP David Littleproud said today.
“Light Up Longreach is an initiative that I’m happy to support because it fosters stronger social ties and gives locals a chance to see their hometown through different light,” Mr Littleproud said.
“Apart from the decorative lights, community events will be held and that has a positive flow-on affect in the community in terms of an additional income stream from tourism or locals supporting home-grown projects.
“The great thing about Tacking Tough Times Together grants is that locals stand together and rally as one, are proud of what projects are supported and this really helps to boost morale in these difficult, dry times.
“Communities in Maranoa who have received these grants did so through an allocation of $1 million provided by the Federal Government to the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal to support 30 projects in Round 14 of TTTT initiative.”
Communities in Maranoa received a total $112,325 in grants from an allocation of $1 million supporting 30 projects in Round 14 of TTTT initiative.
The Federal Government has provided $15 million to the TTTT initiative.
