Federal Funds to Help Get Vital Upgrades Off the Ground

Leader of the Nationals and Member for Maranoa, David Littleproud, has welcomed more than $345,000 worth of Federal Government funds for upgrades to two of the electorate’s airfields.

The St George Airport will receive $200,000 for upgrades to its lighting and fencing, while the Injune Aerodrome will be boosted by a grant of $145,324, which will be used to upgrade its lighting facilities.

Both projects will be made possible via round 10 of the Remote Airstrip Upgrade Program, which is designed to support regional communities in upgrading critical airstrip facilities.

Mr. Littleproud said airfields were a vital resource for many communities across the Maranoa electorate as they provide access to urgent medical services, necessary supplies, and connection to cities and larger regional centers.

“Our regional airstrips are the lifeblood of so many communities right across our Maranoa electorate and it gives me great pride to have helped deliver the funding for these vital projects,” Mr. Littleproud said.

“Whether it’s for providing easier access to healthcare, connecting us to our loved ones, or making it easier to do business, having a fully functional airfield is critical to life in regional Australia.

“I look forward to seeing what positive outcomes will be delivered via these two crucial projects.”
