Creating a fun space for kids and keeping fatigue at bay are key goals for the Weroona Park Wine and Food Fiesta with $20,000– secured through the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal under its Tackling Tough Times Together (TTTT) initiative – Maranoa MP David Littleproud said today.
“Next year’s fiesta will see entertainment and activities for the young ones, improved fencing and importantly, shade tents, so volunteers don’t experience fatigue,” Mr Littleproud said.
“Building up community events so that our youth and adults are catered for means more families are likely to attend and that boosts event participation.
“Tourism plays an important role during drought and has a positive flow-on affect in the community in terms of an additional income stream and laying the groundwork for families to have fun no matter their age is sure to bring in more visitors.
“The great thing about TTTT grants is that locals stand together and rally as one, are proud of what projects are supported and this really helps to boost morale in these difficult, dry times.
“The aim of this funding support is to enhance community health, wellbeing, and make way for locals across Maranoa to get involved as volunteers and support organisations that give back to the community.”
Communities in Maranoa received a total $112,325 in grants from an allocation of $1 million supporting 30 projects in Round 14 of TTTT initiative.
The Federal Government has provided $15 million to the TTTT initiative.
