Funding to help South Burnett bounce back from drought

June 1, 2021

Boosting eco-tourism offerings and supporting volunteers will be key goals on the South Burnett with almost $70,000 secured through the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal’s Tackling Tough Times Together (TTTT) program, Maranoa MP David Littleproud said.

“It’s great to see funds flowing to a number of important community projects across Maranoa, including in the South Burnett, through Round 20 of the TTTT program,” Mr Littleproud said.

“With an injection of $49,654, the South Burnett Mountain Bike Club will construct additional trails at the Gordonbrook Dam Mountain Bike Park. This project will provide a welcome boost, attracting riders to the region and getting tourism dollars flowing.

“The Farm 2 Fork Collective provides a valuable service to the community, connecting producers to local markets and consumers to fresh, locally grown produce. A grant of $19,475 will support the group’s volunteers with professional development to ensure the growth and sustainability of the Collective.”

Across Maranoa, 11 projects will be funded with $374,370 through Round 20 of the Tackling Tough Times Together program.

Mr Littleproud said the projects supported through the latest grants round will provide relief and assistance to volunteers, get more members of the community out and about and upgrade community spaces and infrastructure, making life that bit easier in drought-affected regional communities

“We are proud to continue supporting the Foundation’s important work at such a critical time, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with these local groups to help deliver crucial projects that will strengthen regional economies and social bonds in drought-affected communities,” Mr Littleproud said.

“The Federal Government is backing regional Australia every step of the way to ensure communities bounce back stronger than ever.”
