December 17, 2019

Connecting youth with employment opportunities will be a priority in the New Year when DGT Employment and Training partners with the Federal Government, Maranoa MP David Littleproud announced today.

“The Federal Government has invested $10 million into Youth Jobs PaTH services, to support employment pathways and DGT Employment and Training will create industry pilot programs that help young people land jobs in Maranoa,” Mr Littleproud said.

“These industry pathways in food services, agribusiness and logistics will uncover opportunities for our youth to get out there, learning and obtaining real industry experience, with the aim of landing our young people jobs.

“There’s strong demand for skills in these industries and I’m keen to see the results.

“These pathways include flexible training opportunities, industry specific internships, mentoring and extra support for participants if they need it and in some cases apprenticeships and traineeships.”

Minister for Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business, Senator the Hon Michaelia Cash, said the pilots are a direct response to calls from industry for greater input in selecting, training, matching and supporting young job seekers.

“The Government is delivering on creating more employment pathways to real jobs for young people,” Minister Cash said.

Businesses may also receive a wage subsidy of up to $10,000 for eligible participants, to help settle them into the workplace.
