Maranoa jobs threatened by Labor’s reckless policy

Labor’s net zero policy will throw hard working people in Maranoa onto the unemployment queues.

The member for Maranoa, Minister David Littleproud said to achieve their reckless net zero targets, Labor would sacrifice jobs in western Queensland.

“The Government’s Safeguard Mechanism allows Australia’s largest energy using businesses to monitor and manage their emissions,” Minister Littleproud said.

“Labor’s changes to the Safeguard Mechanism will hit business and major employers in Maranoa with a new sneaky carbon tax.

“They will turn the Government’s Safeguard Mechanism into a big stick to clobber Australian businesses.”

The businesses and operations in Maranoa that will be hit by Labor’s new sneaky carbon tax include:

• APA Pty Ltd, South West Queensland Pipeline
• Arrow Energy Pty Ltd, Daandine Operations
• Arrow Energy Pty Ltd, Tipton Operations
• Origin Energy Upstream Operator Pty Ltd, LNG Pipeline
• Origin Energy Upstream Operator Pty Ltd, Spring Gully
• Origin Energy Upstream Operator Pty Ltd, Talinga
• QGC Pty Ltd, QGC Upstream
• Santos Ltd, Ballera Qld
• Santos Ltd, Fairview

“What we see yet again is that Labor will sacrifice the jobs of the men and women in regional and rural Australia to win capital city votes,” Minister Littleproud said.

“Labor will abandon the Bush to try and out do the Greens in urban Australia.

“The Government has taken the pathway that will protect regional and rural Australia.

“The Government has earned its stripes by choosing science and technology, Labor can’t change its spots by again choosing job killing taxes.”
