Maranoa MP: Freestone Hall upgrades to boost entertainment

July 22, 2019

Maranoa MP David Littleproud today announced Freestone locals will have more choices in how they use their hall with $10,000 – secured through the Federal Government’s Tackling Tough Times Together program – for upgrades.

“By upgrading the audio-visuals, lighting and improving WH&S, Freestone Memorial Hall is going to give its users a new zest for community events,” Mr Littleproud said.

“The association will also use some of the $10,000 for monthly get-togethers which could include entertainment or a speaker.

“This funding provides great incentive for local organisations to secure funds for entertainment and social events, which during drought will provide some relief, new ideas and engagement with activities that can take your mind off of the more serious things in our lives.

“Tackling Tough Times Together grants are allocated to community associations, show societies, progress committees and environmental groups to support projects that reduce social isolation and that is a cause I fully support, particularly during drought.

“Communities in Maranoa who have received these grants did so through an allocation of $1.4 million provided by the Coalition Federal Government to the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal,” Mr Littleproud said.

The aim of this funding support is to enhance community health, wellbeing, and make way for locals across Maranoa to get involved as volunteers and support organisations that give back to the community.

“These projects help drought-affected communities cope with the stress of drought while also contributing to the local economy and community infrastructure renewal.”
