Maranoa MP: Kingaroy scholarship up and running

Rural health is being bolstered in Kingaroy with Maranoa MP David Littleproud announcing today that Queensland Rural Medical Education secured $33,000 through the Federal Government’s Destination Australia program for a scholarship.

“This scholarship – running over two years – is going to help a health student get a leg up into a great career serving rural communities,” Mr Littleproud said.

“Apart from helping students get the necessary skills for a job these scholarships help support local businesses and promote Maranoa as an attractive study destination because of our lifestyle, cost of living and smaller class size.

“Our region is a great place to live and enticing health students to study in the bush is a pro-active way to improve health outcomes for locals.

“Four other scholarships will also be available through Queensland Rural Medical Education in Dalby, Stanthorpe and Warwick.”

Through the Federal Government’s Destination Australia program, $198,000 and seven scholarship placements have been made available across Maranoa.

Students can apply directly to institutions and a list of education providers can be found at www.education.gov.au/destination-australia.
