Maranoa MP: Longreach Leader to expand digital footprint

October 22, 2019

The Longreach Printing Company is set for a digital boost after receiving $217,475 – through the Federal Government’s Regional Grant Opportunity – Maranoa MP David Littleproud announced.

“The media landscape is undergoing a profound digital transformation – a business model change – and I’m glad to see this funding will give Longreach Printing Company the infrastructure to manage content for online audiences and build even stronger engagement with its readership,” Mr Littleproud said.

“The Longreach Printing Company demonstrated a solid business case to increase publishing activities for our region, with the grant providing much-needed funding to manage online content and diversify its digital operation.

“It is one of 62 small and regional publishers across Australia to share in around $9 million of funding under the Federal Government’s Regional Grant Opportunity program to support local journalism.

“We recognise the challenges facing regional publishers and local newspapers as they reshape their business models to deal with the digital landscape and put themselves on more sustainable footings for the future.

“These grants provide regional publishers with the opportunity to invest in new technologies to support news gathering skills development and digital initiatives.”

The Regional Grant Opportunity program is overseen by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA), with Maranoa receiving $289,215 in grants.
