Maranoa MP opens doors to new Wambo Medical practice centre

Specialist healthcare services will soon be rolling into Jandowae with the new Wambo Medical practice officially opened by Maranoa MP David Littleproud today.

“I’m happy to be here at the new Wambo Medical practice and glad to see the Coalition Federal Government’s investment of $300,000 going towards building this centre,” Mr Littleproud said.

“A medical centre of this size brings economic and social benefits for the broader community and improves stability of local health services.

“The new consulting rooms will attract visiting specialists, reducing the need for local patients to travel to larger towns.

“Medical students now have space to get the valuable rural health experience they need to launch their careers in the bush – as well as support patients.

“Rural communities have been crying out for doctors for decades and I’m glad to see two doctors operating at the Wambo Medical practice here in Jandowae now.

“Families, farmers and business owners are put under immense mental strain because of drought and having access to a healthcare provider who has the modern facilities and visiting specialists takes some of the strain away.

“I’m proud to be here at the opening of this facility because supporting health services is a number one priority and I commend Dr Dwyer, his nurse wife Kimberly and Dr Kim Huynh on their decision to live in Jandowae, make it their home and practice medicine.

“This is a positive investment for the future workforce of rural and remote Queensland, promotes confidence and encourages regional growth.”
