Maranoa MP David Littleproud today announced that Gallang Place Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation (GPATSIC) secured $33,000 through the Federal Government’s Destination Australia program for two scholarship placements.
“Two scholarships will be available – running over one year – for students to gain skills that are going to give them a leg up into a career,” Mr Littleproud said.
“This is great news because supporting local industries and people with fresh skills helps build our rural communities up and paves the way for a successful future.
“This scholarship incentivises more students to study in Roma, as well as supporting local businesses and promoting the Maranoa region as an attractive study destination because of our lifestyle, cost of living and smaller class size.
“Our region is a great place to live and enticing students to study in the bush is a pro-active way to improve local services and industries.”
Through the Federal Government’s Destination Australia program, $198,000 and seven scholarship placements have been made available across Maranoa.
Students can apply directly to institutions and a list of education providers can be found at www.education.gov.au/destination-australia.
