Maranoa MP Secures $175,000 for two projects to build up the Maranoa

June 5, 2020

Maranoa MP David Littleproud announced today that the Roughlie Community Centre will expand benefits to its members by building a multi-purpose facility with the help of a $160,420 Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF) investment.

“Workshops, get-togethers and a central point during emergencies are all going to be features of the multi-purpose facility, which will be located in Roma,” Mr Littleproud said.

“The Roughlie community may be based north of Roma but they’ll come together at the multi-purpose facility to support each other through the good times and the bad.

“I’m a firm believer in bringing people together to support each other through thick and thin because it has a positive flow-on effect on our communities, quality of life and how we support each other.

“It’s pleasing to see groups doing their best to leverage economic benefits for the region.

“Additionally, the Roma Business Development Association plans to do when they create a plan to further drive economic growth for the Maranoa region, with the support of $15,000 through BBRF.

“I’ve now secured more than $45 million through BBRF projects in the Maranoa electorate since 2016 which is a great result for communities in our part of the world.

“BBRF funded projects go a long way to improving services, events, facilities, creating jobs and securing a fair share for communities that have been battling through drought.”

Round Four of BBRF includes a total $200 million in grants, with projects falling under the Infrastructure Projects Stream or the Community Investments Stream.

The Infrastructure Projects Stream: Supports projects that involve construction of new infrastructure, or the upgrade or extension of existing infrastructure
