New offices to improve service delivery at Chinchilla Family Support Centre

Three brand new offices have been built at the Chinchilla Community Centre to increase support services in the community with the help of a $77,712 Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF) investment.

Federal Member for Maranoa David Littleproud joined the Chinchilla community today to officially open the project which will deliver social benefits to the Chinchilla community.

“Expanding office space is a terrific boost for the community and will allow the Chinchilla Community Centre to continue connecting residents with a range of professional services and support agencies,” Mr Littleproud said.

“The new offices will provide space for community service providers including financial counsellors, employment support agencies, the National Disability Insurance Scheme and Parents Next to better facilitate face-to-face meetings and effectively run support programs.

“The existing office spaces at the Chinchilla Community Centre had been at maximum capacity with high demand for office space, so this project will enable new and existing services to increase their assistance to the Chinchilla community.

“The project was funded under the Australian Government’s $1.29 billion Building Better Regions Fund, which supports projects that build stronger regional communities by creating jobs and driving economic growth.

“The project engaged local suppliers and contractors, supporting two jobs during construction and one new ongoing job.

“The project will also provide office space at no cost to volunteer community groups to gather and plan community events.”

The project was jointly funded, with the Australian Government committing $77,712, the Western Downs Regional Council committing $50,303 and the Chinchilla Family Support Centre Inc committing $50,303.
