‘One Stop Shop’ for drought support coming to Winton

Maranoa MP David Littleproud is encouraging Winton residents affected by drought to find out what support is available to them at the upcoming Drought Community Outreach Event in Winton.

Organised and funded by the Federal Government’s National Drought and North Queensland Flood Response and Recovery Agency, and in partnership with Rotary Australia, the Drought Community Outreach Program will visit Maranoa this month to deliver services specific to farmers and their communities.

Mr Littleproud said the outreach event will deliver a ‘one stop shop’ for drought support services and information.

“This event will bring together all levels of government, charities, not-for-profit and agricultural organisations to support farmers and rural communities living through the immediate and longer-term effects of drought,” Mr Littleproud said.

“It’s a great opportunity for farmers, families and community members to catch up with friends and neighbours and find out what support is available during drought and tough times.

“Attendees will be able to get information and advice on low-interest loans, Farm Household Allowance, On-Farm Emergency Water Infrastructure Rebate Scheme, $3,000 Drought Community Support Initiative, and Rotary $500 household vouchers.

“These outreach events provide an opportunity for face-to-face, confidential conversations with farmers and community members experiencing the impacts of drought. The aim is to ensure our communities are given the right information, advice and options to prepare and recover from drought now and into the future.”

The event will have representatives from Australian Government agencies such as the Australian Taxation Office, Regional Investment Corporation (RIC), Services Australia and NBN Co. Representatives from Queensland Government agencies, peak agricultural bodies, the Rural Financial Counselling Service and Royal Flying Doctor Service will also be at the event to provide information and support.
