Maranoa MP David Littleproud is encouraging rural residents affected by drought to find out what support is available to them at the Drought Community Outreach Event coming to Barcaldine on Wednesday 22 September.

“This event will see the Rapid Relief Team (RRT) join forces with the Federal Government’s National Recovery and Resilience Agency and Rotary Australia to provide support and advice on the drought and challenges like COVID-19, all in the one place,” Mr Littleproud said.

“It’s a great opportunity for farmers, families and community members to grab a free RRT signature burger, catch up with friends and neighbours and find out what support is available during drought and tough times.

“The event will bring together all levels of government, charities, not-for-profit and agricultural organisations to support farmers and rural and regional communities living through the immediate and longer-term effects of drought.

“Attendees will be able to get information and advice on Farm Household Allowance, On-Farm Emergency Water Infrastructure Rebate Scheme and Rotary will also be distributing $500 vouchers to drought-affected households and conducting community well-being activities.

“Farmers can also pick up a one tonne bag of livestock pellets at the event, donated by the Rapid Relief Team, but pre-registering is a must. Registrations close Friday 10 September 2021.

“The aim of this event is to ensure our communities are given the right information, support and advice they need to recover and prepare for drought now and into the future.”

The event will have representatives from Australian Government agencies such as the Australian Taxation Office, Regional Investment Corporation (RIC), Services Australia and NBN Co. State government agencies, natural resource management organisations and peak agricultural bodies with drought support information will also be the event.

The Drought Community Outreach Event will be held at the Barcaldine Showgrounds on Wednesday 22 September between 9am and 1pm.
