Roma Saleyards transformation complete, opening on Australia Day

Maranoa MP David Littleproud welcomes the official opening of Roma’s new multipurpose saleyard facility on Australia Day, jointly funded with $3.96 million through the Federal Government’s Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF).

“Making the right infrastructure investments – like the Roma Saleyards Multipurpose Facility – brings big benefits to beef producers, truckies, stock agents, rural businesses, hotels and the tourism industry,” Mr Littleproud said.

“This modern facility will enhance sales opportunities with its digital infrastructure, bringing vendors and buyers from further afield.

“The interpretive centre will be an important asset explaining how the cattle industry works to passing tourists.

“The beef industry will be kicking goals and, very importantly, knowledge of how the cattle industry really works will be passed on to tourists when they visit the interpretive centre.

“The Roma Saleyards Multipurpose Facility will create employment opportunities for our youth in years to come and strengthen Roma’s position as the largest cattle selling centre of Australia.

“Investing in well-equipped infrastructure is a priority because it gives our businesses better access to markets and that’s a key goal of mine.”

Roma’s Multipurpose Saleyards Facility includes an administration centre, amenities, canteen, interpretive centre, new stud stock selling arena with state of the art audio-visual facilities and upgraded parking facilities for its users.

Mr Littleproud has secured more than $24 million through BBRF for the Maranoa electorate since 2016.
