Rural Financial Counselling Service boosted by $400,000

April 20, 2022

Roma’s Rural Solutions Queensland Inc has received a $400,000 boost to deliver the Regional Small Business Support Program (RSBSP) in the Southern Queensland region.

Member for Maranoa David Littleproud said the funding will enable Rural Solutions Queensland to increase staff resourcing across their Rural Financial Counselling Service (RFCS) in Southern Queensland until 31 December 2022.

“In response to the recent flooding events in Queensland and New South Wales, there’s a need to increase service capacity under the Regional Small Business Support Program,” Mr Littleproud said.

“As we’ve witnessed, some businesses have been repeatedly battered by flooding, so this program connects those eligible small businesses with rural financial counsellors, to understand their financial position, strengths and weaknesses, and to develop and implement plans to improve their financial situation for the future.

“It’s a free, confidential service offering tailored support to better understand financial position, connect with government programs and assistance schemes, and identify long-term recovery options.”

For Rural Solutions Queensland Inc, the $400,000 funding tops up a previous grant of $375,282 and will guarantee continued delivery of the RSBSP program until 31 December 2022.

The total national RSBSP funding investment of $25.7 million since February 2020, will safeguard more rural and regional businesses in Southern Queensland, helping them remain resilient while recovering from this natural disaster.
