Spacious, comfortable information centre to help stimulate Mitchell economy

Maranoa MP David Littleproud announced today that Mitchell’s Visitor Information Centre will have a makeover, luring tourists to check out what’s on offer and get involved.

“The Booringa Action Group secured $5318 – through the Federal Government’s Tackling Tough Times Together program – to upgrade information displays, cabinets and furniture at the Great Artesian Spa complex,” Mr Littleproud said.

“There were always limitations to how much information could be displayed for visitors and seeing that the spa is such a drawcard, it only makes sense that the information centre is enhanced.

“More tourists checking out what’s on offer boils down to local ventures being supported and the local economy stimulated.

“Tackling Tough Times Together grants are allocated to community associations, show societies, progress committees and environmental groups to support projects that reduce social isolation and that is a cause I fully support, particularly during drought.

“Communities in Maranoa who have received these grants did so through an allocation of $1.4 million provided by the Coalition Federal Government to the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal.

“These projects help drought-affected communities cope with the stress of drought while also contributing to the local economy and community infrastructure renewal.”
