Supporting local causes, keeping assets in good condition

Warwick’s Community Van will have a new place to call home, with $5250 secured by Maranoa MP David Littleproud through round five of the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Programme.

“The Seventh Day Adventist Church, who run the Warwick Community Van, will use this $5250 grant to build a lockable shed and keep assets safe and sheltered,” Mr Littleproud said.

“It’s important will look after this valuable community asset.

“The van plays a pivotal role in the Warwick community and without it there would be no weekly soup kitchen at Leslie Park.

“Volunteers will be able to prepare for community events with more ease because hygiene kits, hampers, food for the van and equipment for the soup kitchen will all be stored in the shed.

“I’m a firm believer in bringing people together and improving community services across Maranoa because it has a positive flow-on effect on our quality of life and how we support each other – building this shed to house the Warwick Community Van reflects this.

“Our regional communities are the heart of this country and I want to make sure that small capital projects are funded and the community and its assets get exactly what it needs.”

Round 5 of the Stronger Communities Programme has seen $150,000 in Federal Government funding made available to Maranoa community groups.

Project grants range from $2500 to $20,000 to help bolster rural communities.
