Volunteer Grants support communities in Murweh

Murweh volunteers will receive a boost of $11,596 to help purchase equipment, training, and background screening checks, under the 2021 Volunteer Grants program.

Member for Maranoa David Littleproud announced today that the Augathella Aqua Ants Swimming Club would receive $2,360; Augathella Cultural Association $2,800; Charleville & District Cultural Association $2,936; along with $3,500 for Charleville’s Rotary Club, to support the crucial role each plays within the community.

“As your local member, I have seen the impact of volunteering here in Maranoa and how the hard work of local volunteers continues to strengthen our community,” Mr Littleproud said.

“I’m proud of the work undertaken by community organisations in Maranoa, supporting businesses and families throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and recovery, and with International Volunteer Day being celebrated on Sunday, I particularly acknowledge and thank them.

“I know how integral volunteers are to so many Australian organisations, with more than 8.7 million volunteers across the country giving their time freely to support their communities.”

In total, $128,245 will flow to 44 community organisations across Maranoa as part of the Morrison Government’s $20 million Volunteer Grants round, to support the crucial role that they play within our community as Australia moves forward out of the pandemic.

The 2021 Volunteer Grants provide organisations with grants of $1,000 to $5,000 to help purchase equipment, training, and background screening checks for their volunteers.

Volunteering plays an important role in Australia’s social landscape, as a proven pathway to get people into jobs, reduce marginalisation and increase community participation, further supporting Australia’s COVID-19 recovery.
