Saluting Their Service program to honour veterans

April 21, 2023

Applications are now open for the latest round of the federal government’s Saluting Their Service (STS) Commemorative Grants Program.

In the latest round of grants, up to $3.5 million is available for projects that promote appreciation and understanding of the experiences of service and the roles that those who serve have played, as well as to projects aimed at preserving Australia’s wartime heritage.

Maranoa MP David Littleproud said the electorate had a rich history of sacrifice and service and encouraged community groups to get involved.

“The STS program is a fantastic way of not only preserving our electorate’s rich history of service, but ensuring it lives on for future generations,” Mr Littleproud said.

“The Maranoa electorate is made up of so many unique communities and I think the best part about the STS program is that it offers opportunities for these communities to commemorate those who have served in their own ways.”

Successful recipients of the STS grants have included the Freestone Memorial Hall Association, the Nanango RSL Sub Branch and Paroo Shire Council.

All three successful applicants were granted $10,000 for research and to update honour rolls, the installation of new cabinets for military memorabilia, and the introduction of a new World War II memorial respectively.

Community grants of up to $10,000 are available for a variety of local projects with applications for the latest batch of funds closing June 13.
